The manufacturing process consists of several stages.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Wood<\/span><\/h2>

First, we receive the wood, mostly grenadilla wood (<\/span>dalbergia melanoxylon<\/span><\/i>) coming from Mozambique or Tanzania.\u00a0
<\/span>The wood is drilled and turned a first time in a cylindrical shape, in order to facilitate drying.\u00a0
<\/span>The wood is then stored and dried during 6 to 7 years minimum.
<\/span>Then, the dried wood pieces are turned again, to obtain the final oustide shape and the bore of the instrument.
Tone holes and holes for the mechanics\u2019 support (posts) are drilled.
<\/span>Finally, the posts are installed on the wooden joints, drilled and milled.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Metal<\/span><\/h2>

Instruments keys are made of German silver.
<\/span>Some keys are turned, while some are milled, bevelled, cut, and then soldered together
<\/span>There are more than 200 pieces before soldering, and about 50 after.
<\/span>The pieces are then silver-plated.
<\/span>They are finally installed on the wooden parts.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Final steps<\/span><\/h2>

The finishing of the instrument consists in installing the cork pads \u2013 in order to make the instrument air-tight -, springs and adjusting screws.
<\/span>Then the instrument is tuned, and final bore adjustments are made.
