Sylvain Cremers

Sylvain Cremers is one of the most active and renowned oboists on the Belgian music scene. He has an extensive and intense musical career as the principal oboe of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège (Belgium).

He began his higher musical studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Liège, where he earned the First Prize in oboe as well as the First Prize in chamber music, both with the highest distinction. He then obtained his Advanced Diploma in oboe with the highest distinction.

He continued his studies at the “Musikhochschule” in Cologne and with Mr. Jean-Louis Capezzali in Paris.

Winner of the “Axion Classics National Competition” (“Pro ci Vitate”) in Belgium, he also excelled in the “Bayreuth International Competition” (Pacem in Terris).

Since 1994, he has held the position of principal oboe of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège without interruption. He has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America and has worked with world-class conductors and renowned soloists.

He has made numerous CD recordings as well as live concerts for TV Mezzo Live and Medici TV.

Sylvain Cremers collaborates with other orchestras and ensembles such as the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Sinfonietta Köln, the Charlemagne Orchestra, Musiques Nouvelles, and more.

As a soloist, he has performed concertos by J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, A. Marcello, G.F. Handel, J. Haydn, D. Cimarosa, W.A. Mozart, J.N. Hummel, Y. Bourrel, W.B. Molique, F. Martin, V. Williams, S. Barber, M. Arnold, and others.

Sylvain Cremers is frequently invited to give oboe masterclasses in Libramont, Malonne, Dinant, Antwerp (Belgium), St Cast-le-Guildo (France), Spain, Japan, and China.

Oboe professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels from 1997 to 2000, Sylvain Cremers is currently developing his teaching activity at the Royal Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur (IMEP) and at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, which he combines with his various musical performances.
