Michel Rosset, born in Fribourg in 1956, received his first musical training with the St. Michael Singers. In 1974, he took his first oboe lessons. After studying at the conservatories of Lausanne (with Jean-Paul Goy) and Bern (with Hans Elhorst), he secured the position of solo oboe and English horn with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland), a position he still holds today, while developing an intense solo and teaching career. He is also dedicated to researching repertoire to discover for the oboe and English horn. For instance, he presented Gustave Vogt’s concerto for English horn and orchestra at the 2002 IDRS Congress in Banff (Canada). From 2007 to 2012, he served as a chamber music professor at the HEM of Geneva-Neuchâtel. Since 2004, composition has become part of his musical journey. For his own enjoyment, he also plays the harpsichord and viola da gamba.
