Claude Villevieille

A professor of oboe in Île-de-France since the early 1980s (CRD and CRC), Claude Villevieille is also passionate about chamber music (OZI Reed Trio, Octet “Mr. Croche & Company,” Trio Vivere, Les Hautbois du Blason…). His various activities as a performer have taken him to over 50 countries around the world.

A curious musician, he conducts research in libraries and revives many works by forgotten composers, which he performs, promotes, publishes, and records regularly. In 1993, he recorded, with the “Talich Chamber Orchestra” from Prague, the first recording of the concert works by the oboist J.-F. Garnier (1755-1825) and the Oboe Concerto by the famous violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer (4 Diapasons, reissued in 2009). He does not neglect the repertoire of major concertos with orchestra (Richard Strauss, Mozart, Bach, Lebrun, Krommer, Leclair, Vivaldi…).

In 1994, he founded “La Bande des Hautbois” with his advanced students. This ensemble of about fifteen musicians has, to date, given over 250 concerts, 16 tours, and released three CDs.

All his curiosities and discoveries have been realized through several recordings and in two collections of sheet music that bear his name (over 50 titles), dedicated to the oboe family and ensembles.
